Develop a broad appreciation of English literature, engage with thought-provoking critical ideas and gain a full understanding of the social, political and cultural context of writing.

The recently established Goldstein Library is located on campus to provide a valuable research resource.

The course allows students to explore core concepts such as personal, professional and academic skills alongside more specialised skills such as narrative, poetry, autobiography and writing for stage and screen.

Students will expand their knowledge of literary periods and genres through in-depth exploration of critical theory, romantic and gothic writing, Victorian and post war writing and through writing short stories.

You will be encouraged to develop a research topic that interests you and to expand upon this with specialist staff.
